How to get to Florence

Florence is the capital of Tuscany, in central Italy. You can easily get there by plane, train or bus.

If you travel by plane, the two most convenient airports are:

  • Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR), which is connected to the city centre by tram line T2.
  • Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport (PSA), which is connected to Florence by train and direct shuttle buses.

If you travel by train, the main railway station is Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN). Another convenient station is Firenze Rifredi, which is the closest railway station to the venue.

If you travel by bus, you can arrive at the main bus station, Villa Costanza, directly connected to the city centre by tram line T1.

How to get to the venue

The venue is Centro Didattico Morgagni, viale Giovanni Battista Morgagni 40–44. The closest tram stop is Morgagni–Università, just a short walk from the entrance.

  • From Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport: take tram line T2 from Peretola Aeroporto towards the city centre and get off at Alamanni–Stazione. Change to tram line T1 towards Careggi–Ospedale and get off at Morgagni–Università. The venue is less than 100 metres from the stop.
  • From Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport: take the PisaMover to Pisa Centrale and then a train to Firenze Santa Maria Novella. From there, take tram line T1 towards Careggi–Ospedale and get off at Morgagni–Università.
  • From Firenze Santa Maria Novella: take tram line T1 towards Careggi–Ospedale and get off at Morgagni–Università. The journey takes about 20 minutes and the venue is less than 100 metres from the stop.
  • From Firenze Rifredi: the venue can be reached on foot in approximately 10–15 minutes.
  • From Firenze Campo di Marte: take a local train to Firenze Santa Maria Novella and then tram line T1 towards Careggi–Ospedale, getting off at Morgagni–Università.
  • From Villa Costanza: take tram line T1 towards Careggi–Ospedale and get off directly at Morgagni–Università. The journey takes about 40 minutes.

Practical information

A standard urban ticket in Florence is valid for 90 minutes and can be used on buses and trams. The current fare is €1.70. Tickets can be bought from ticket machines, through the at bus app, or directly on board using a contactless credit/debit card.

Another convenient way of getting around Florence is by bike. The city has an extensive network of cycle lanes and a bike-sharing service operated by RideMovi.
